Aclys-"s/t" | German hardcore bands have never been my favourites, but it seems like Per Koro has discovered the really good bands in Germany. Aclys are german down to the bone. All lyrics are in german, and everything written in the sheet that comes with the 7" is also written in german, and since my german aint what it should be, I cant understand one complete sentence. (I can't see why i'm trying either!?) The music on this 7" is great. Melodic metal with an emo twist. The vocals are what I would work on if I were you guys. Those who have heard Veil knows what I mean. But somehow, the vox and music goes well together. Buy stuff from the cool label Per Koro. | Per Koro Records c/o Markus Haas Fehrfeld 26 28 203 Bremen Germany |

As Friends Rust/ Discount-"split" |
The Rusts are back with their absolutely
best song EVER! Since their "Fists of time" MCD, they have become a little bit softer
which only makes them better. Discount from Florida is an emo/rock band with female
vocals, reminds a bit of Ashes (Brian "Salad Days" McTernan's old emo band) which I
ain't very fond of, but I like the Discount songs. AFR contributes with one song, and
Discount with two songs. Also available as four song cd-single. (two AFR songs, one from
"fists of time" + a new one) |

Breach-"last rites" | You can believe that this has been an anticipated record for me. It contains 2 new songs, one of them is instrumental. I was a bit dissapointed when I listened to it. Breach aren't what they used to be. It's still the same Neurosis influenced new-school, but these songs doesn't have the same quality as the ones on the "it's me god" CD. If you are a Breach fan, than this is definetly a record that you should own, and if not, then wait for their new CD which will be released on Burning Heart Records sometime this summer/fall. Vinyl version of "it's me god" CD and vinyl version of their new record will be released on Trust no One Records. | Trust No One Records Helgalunden 5 11858 Stockholm Sweden |

the Burning Flames
-"split" ![]() |
The BxF continue with their aggresive old-school on this 7", although this record seems to have best songs. Fast punkrock/old-school combined with desperate screams. Now when End in Sight have broken up, this just might be the next thing out of Gislaved, Sweden. | Eternity Recordings c/o Lundgren Strandgatan 30B 63343 Eskilstuna Sweden |

the Burning Flames/ Get up & Go'ers -"split" |
Two old-school bands are on this split-7". The Burning Flames from Gislaved, Sweden and Get up & Go'ers from Vaxjo Sweden. BF are more of an aggresive youthcrew band, and G&G are more into that certain old old-school sound that we all like.(Don't we?) This is an average record, which worth the money if you're looking for some new and good bands. | Euphony Records c/o Daniel Axelsson Kringelvagen 10B 35244 Vaxjo Sweden |

the Cole Quintet -"flamingo" ![]() |
This is a record that I have been longing for to hear, since reading several fanzines who claim that this 7" is great. The Cole Quintet mixes some of the certain San Diego sound with their own kind of progressive emo-metal. Jazz is obviously also a major influence. I read somewhere that they sounded like the Swing Kids, but I can assure you that these guys have an own edge to it. Definitely a record worth checking out. | Paracelsius Records Alex Haase Hombergerstr. 12 D-37 124 Rosdorf Germany |

Converge
-"Y2K" ![]() |
I am one of the few happy owners of this european-tour 7". It's printed in 1000 copies on a transparent disc. Reminds of looking through glass. Songs on this 7" are, Snowblind, Serialkiller and Disintegration. Two out of the three songs appears on the Converge 5" and the Converge/Brutal Truth split. Musicwise they sound like the songs on the Petitioning the empty sky record, although the 7" includes a song almost sounding like the fast edgemetal bands from Belgium, but Converge is so much better than the Belgian blackmetal wannabees. | Equal Vison This 7" is out of press and is strictly limited to only 1000 copies world-wide, so there is no nead for you to mailbomb Equal vision, in an attempt of trying to buy this record. 8 days of nothing -"the next thing that happened was a mind-mangling explosion of noise and light" |
SPAZZ! Fuckin awesome spazz/noisecore from Gislaved, Sweden. Reminds of Swing Kids, but with a more high pitch voice. They have one of the most strangest/sickest/weirdest singers ever, and they kick ass live. The drummer plays guitar and sings in Refused lookalike band, End in Sight. |

Separation -"split" ![]() the I.N.C. draws their inspiration from
Make-Up, making the music sound almost identical to the Make-Up's sound. That is the
gospel-soul-pop-rock-punk-whatever-you-want-to-call-it sound.
Separation continues with their San Diego styled punkrock music, that also can be found
on their 10" released on Phyte Records.

Eightfold/Torment-"split" | Here we have Eightfold playing new-school/emo and Torment kickin ass with their mighty old-school moshcore, sounding like a fast version of Hatebreed. Three good songs by Eightfold and two awesome songs by Torment. You don't wanna miss this release! Printed on a (shit)brown transparent vinyl! Be sure to get one before they are sold out. | Diving Records available through WCJ |

End in Sight -"killing the musicians" |
If End in Sight would have lived in Umea, Sweden, they would be called Refused. End in Sight have completely changed style from rockish hardcore to a more Refused "the shape of punk to come" styled type of music. Their former gruffing singer has left the band, and is now replaced with one of their guitarplayers who still plays the guitar. A lot of the lyrics are about freemasonry, and how fucked up it is. EIS have done a very positive change, and I suggest you buy this new 7" instead of thier old material which sucks big time. | Putrid Filth Conspiracy

For want of...-"comp" 2x7" |
This double 7" comes with a beautiful layout, and that's about everything that is good about these records. Bands on the comp are: Solar Bomb Kit, Torches to Rome, Kurt Baby Harp Seal, Christie Front Drive, In/Humanity. The only good band is Christie Front Drive who plays emo, and does it very well actually. Almost sounding like the Get Up Kids. If you wnat to buy this record, do it for the layout and Christie Front Drive sake. | X-mist Records Leonardstr. 18A 72202 Nagold Germany |

Good Clean Fun -"shopping for a crew" ![]() |
This is the ultimate positive old-school record. Definetely something for all of you toughguys to check out. GCF has the 88'-feeling although it doesn't overshadow their way of playing. The lyrics concern everything between staying sugar free - to - getting more people involved in the hc movement. Just one of those records you gotta have in your collection. On da base, we find Mr. Phyte himself. Oh, by the way, my copy is a transparent blue one. | Reflections Records De Nijverheid 30 7681 MD Vroomshoop the Netherlands |

Hot Water Music/ Rydell-"split" |
Now here's a thing of (emo)beauty. One song from HWM and one from Rydell. HWM haven't changed a bit, and sounds like they use to and are supposed to do. I think that this song "just don't say you lost it" appears on the "forever and counting" album. Correct me if i'm wrong. Rydell are quite good in matters of making music, but I sincerely hope that the singer is taking singing-lessons to improve his voice, which on this recording sounds extremely monotonuos. They aren't bad, but they're not my favourites either. (The Get up Kids are, he he) | Scene Police c/o Dennis-P Merklinghaus Auf dem Stefansberg 58 53340 Meckenheim Germany |

the Jam Session
-"s/t" ![]() |
P*o*w*e*r*v*i*o*l*e*n*c*e, that word pretty much says it all. the Jam Session is Sweden's answer to the Locust or Jenny Piccolo. Drums, two bass-playes and one vocalist. Using two bass-players gives an incredibly dark soundscreen, and the hammering on the drums combined with the distorted screams that the vocalist screams out, makes this a sure winner. KING! |

Keystone Sinatra -"harta/harta" ![]() |
Have you ever wondered where all the great riffs from the Get Up Kids, Hot Water Music and the Promise Ring went? Well, I think I got the answer. Keystone Sinatra has everything the aforementioned bands lack, and this is without a doubt the best thing Diving Rex has released up to date. Mixing the typical sound of the aforementioned bands, seems to be working incredibly well. This is definetely not some sort of rip-off, it's just damn good. | Diving Records Fogdarodsv. 234 43 Hoor Sweden |

Kosjer D -"true?" ![]() |
This record is quite old, but I decided to review it anyway since it so great. Kosjer D, one of the best european emo-bands ever. I guess that this record has some of their very first songs that appear on a record. The record itself is cool, in that way that one side is 33rpm and the other is 45rpm. Back to the music. Easiest described as a slowed down version of Hot Water Music. They are definitely not copycats of HWM's way of playing, but at times the singer has that whisky/cigarr shaped voice that also can be found at HWM's singer. | Genet Records p.o. box 447 9000 Gent 1 Belgium |

Last Match/ Switchblade -"split" |
A split with Last Match and Switchblade, does it get any better than this I ask myself. Switchblade are still going strong with their His Hero is Gone/Swing Kids influenced double bass player music, very original indeed. Last Match are crazier than ever before, weird chaotic and noisy music very much like Born Against. This is also very original. I suggest that you check this out. It doesn't matter if you're in to new-school or old-school etc., you'll like this, I can assure you that. The Switchblade side is 45 rpm and the Last Match is 33 rpm, so incredibly cool...!!! | La Calavera Discos p.o. box 385 90108 Umea Sweden |

Morning Again -"my statement of life in a dying world" |
So incredibly good and well played metal hardcore (more metal than hardcore) from Florida. Three songs are delivered on this amazing 7", although two songs from this 7" can be found on their latest cd called "As tradition dies slowly". Along with the 7" comes the most beautiful booklet ever, done by Sean Mallinson of Immigrant Sun Records. Morning Again -"to die a bitter death" |
This is Morning Again's last release ever, and it contains two songs that weren't on their full-length cd. The songs sound like the songs on the "as tradition dies slowly" record. The layout is nice since Sean Mallison has done it. | Immigrant Sun Records p.o. box 87 Stuyvesant Falls, NY 14174 USA |

No Reason-"s/t" | Fantastic oldschool, still sounding fresh and innovative although oldschool is somewhat limited as far as songwriting goes. Good songstructures, very energetic, makes you want to stagedive, pile-on and fingerpoint in your livingroom. Cool artwork which tells the story of the rise and fall of famed skateboarder Mark Rogowski ,but what do you expect from Immigrant Sun? | Immigrant Sun Records p.o. box 87 Stuyvesant Falls, NY 14174 USA |

Outlast -"a ramble in passion" |
A highly anticipated 7" record has been released on Bridge Records. This time it's Outlast with a new 7". They haven't changed a bit musicwise, and they are still going on strong with their technical marathon old-school. It's unfortuneately not as good as their "positive hardcore..." MCD, but it's still great. Don't forget to check out ALL of Outlast's former releases! You'll be surprised. | Bridge Records box 1903 58118 Linkoping Sweden |

Prohaska -"cordoba achtundneunzig" ![]() |
Wow, what is this. I never believed that Prohaska were this awesome. Think crazy San Diego bands such as Locust or Jenny Piccolo, then add football. Yes you read right, FOOTBALL. Prohaska uses football as a medium to express their thoughts. Weird football commentators screaming their guts out inbetween the songs. Howcome they're from Austria and not San Diego? Nice cover idea, but the layout is fucked up. But there's something fuckin' scary about hearing exalted and/or angry people shouting in German. Everything sounds like a Nazi party meeting in 1939 :) | Paracelsius Records Alex Haase Hombergerstr. 12 D-37 124 Rosdorf Germany |

Randy-"holy shit" | The Randy guys plays a very orignal kind of punkrock, kind of Propagandhi styled. Both funny and serious lyrics are sung in a way that makes you wanna sing-a-long. Sunburnscold -"...my heart will go on..." ![]() |
I've had my hopes up for this record, but they were quite fast shattered when I took a first listener to this debut 7". Sunburnscold, or should I say a young version of Abhinanda, doesn't surprise me at all with their emotionless and non creative emo-metal. Sounds like I have heard this a thousand times before. Can't really see why there has been such a hype concerning this band. Sorry guys, better luck next time! | Dirk Modrok im grünen Winkel 24 49393 Lohne Germany |

Unbroken/ Abhinanda-"split" |
These are probably the last songs released from Unbroken and Abhinanda. Unbroken does Joy Division's "Love will tear us apart", and it doesn't sound like a normal Unbroken song. Actually, it's poppy in a way, and it gets you in a good mood. Abhinanda does Stray Cats's "Rebels rule", and it's probably the best song ever from Abhinanda. Jos singing is great, and the rest of the band shows how talented they are. The 7" is printed on a transparent vinyl. | Trust no one Helgalunden 5 11858 Stcokholm Sweden |
